Not all the conservative Republicans at Thursday’s West Omaha “Tea Party” were getting along.

Nebraska Watchdog has learned that Omaha area Congressman Lee Terry (NE-R) and his challenger in the May Republican Primary, Matt Sakalosky, had a bit of a dust up. Their face to face disagreement coming the same day Nebraska Watchdog reported that Terry has refused to debate Sakalosky.

Theresa Sakalosky says during the rally at Zorinsky Lake, Terry walked up to her husband and was “wagging his finger” in her husband’s face. Matt Sakalosky tells Nebraska Watchdog that Terry directly questioned Sakalosky’s honesty. According to Sakalosky, Terry said, “I’ve been reading the lies you’ve been writing on your Website.”

Terry, who was walking through the crowd handing out pocket size copies of the U.S. Constitution, was asked by Nebraska Watchdog if he told Sakalosky that Sakalosky was lying about Terry. Terry told Nebraska Watchdog, “I’m not going there.” Terry did say he told Sakalosky that there are items about Terry on Sakalosky’s campaign Website that “just aren’t true.”

According to Sakalosky he told Terry that if there are mistakes on the Website, Sakalosky would be glad to correct them.

Terry said he can’t wait until the Primary is over so he can concentrate on the November general election.

Congressman Terry should tell us what the untruths are so that they can be addressed.

The primary isn’t over. If you have a beef with your contender, then use your rhetorical skills, counselor, and work to persuade your constituents. Just as you expect others to deal honestly with you, so too will you need to deal honestly with them. The voters will decide first in May who wins. No assumptions of title.

Congressman Terry needs to get over himself–he has been a huge disappointment and I for one am ready for a change.

Congressman Terry handing out pocket Constitutions….that’s very nice, but did he do that when he was campaigning in ’08? Or ever?? Or is he taking a cue from the grassroots groups who have been doing that since last year’s tax day tea party? He needs to read it and hand out copies to everyone in Congress.

I was at the Tea Party and within a dozen yards of Congressman Terry the entire time. The entirety of this article is bogus. At most, the two men shared brief pleasantries. I can provide you a long list of people corroborating this.

Also, printing an article with THE ONLY source being the wife one of the two men involved seems questionable at best.

Matt Sakalosky is a joke of a candidate and I’ve seen campaigns for student council in high school better run. Matt main assertion is that he’s the true conservative in the primary but his positions, as outlined on his website, don’t support that claim. Matt has also made false claims that his campaign was involved in sponsoring the tea party rally and that he’s the 9/12 Project candidate in the race. There’s no reason Lee Terry should debate Matt Sakalosky and, if Matt was smart, he wouldn’t insist on one moderated by Joe Jordan. There’s a story archived on here where Matt stammers all over himself and even pledges his support to Lee if Lee wins. Beyond some parades and a couple of failed fund raising events, Matt just can’t be taken seriously.

I’ve known Lee personally for a few years… I may be wrong, but he doesn’t seem like the “finger-wagging” type, not that his primary win depended on the wagging of the finger. I’ve also met Matt and Teresa once or twice, and I must say she seems to me to be the evil Elizabeth Edwards-type of the couple. Yeah, I don’t think anyone is expected Sak to break 5% of the primary vote…

    Dayton–

I was there as well, certainly closer than a dozen yards to the encounter. “Pleasantries” were most certainly not exchanged, unless Lee simply finds it pleasant to freeze a leering smile to his face.
