Terry and the NY Post: Repercussions?

If Republican Congressman Lee Terry’s name has tongues wagging in Washington, well that’s news to Senator Mike Johanns (NE-R).

Last month a New York Post column known as “Page Six” included Terry in a story noting, “Some Republican congressmen have been warned to keep their distance from the female lobbyists who prowl Capitol Hill.”

The column, which Terry calls “repulsive and inaccurate garbage,” claims Terry “was witnessed by Page Six in close conversation with a comely lobbyist at the Capitol Hill Club in DC recently.”

During an interview this week with Nebraska Watchdog (see video below), Johanns said “It doesn’t seem to be talked about in Washington.” According to Johanns the column does not appear to have any political repercussions for Terry, who faces a tough re-election fight with Democratic State Senator Tom White of Omaha.

White’s campaign manager Ian Russell tells Nebraska Watchdog a different story. Russell says White “has been asked about it over and over again while meeting voters at church festivals and other events.” Russell says when White is asked about the Post’s column he tells people that “You don’t need to look any further than Terry’s legislative record to see that his connection with Washington lobbyists and special interests is too close for comfort.”

Although Terry has issued a statement denouncing the Post’s article, he has not done any interviews on the subject.

    There You Go Joe…
I see you’re carrying water for Tom White’s nonexistent campaign again and back to your old muckraking habits again Joe. When you spoke to Ian Russell, was he on White’s campaign dime or still on his Tom White’s legislature office time???

Well Mr Jordan why don’t you get an interview with Rep Terry and ask him about the comely female lobbyist?
It sure as heck is a campaign issue.
I can not wait to see the ad from the White camp.

Are either one of these two the best that District 2 has to send to Washington? If the answer to that is yes then throw in the towel because there is little hope.

Where is the person that will go to Washington and be a true advocate for how we are feeling here in Nebraska? Has Lee Terry stood on the floor and expressed the outrage and anger that you have with those in Washington???? No he has done nothing and shown NO leadership….. Lee Terry fumbles and stumbles back to his district and whines that he stood up and voted against the bad Democrats. That is no longer enough…….. LEE MAN UP AND GO TO WASHINGTON AND USE THE BULLY PULPIT THAT COMES WITH YOUR CONGRESSIONAL POSITION AND LET WASHINGTON KNOW THAT WE ARE MAD AS HELL!!!!!! Unfortunately Lee does not offer that type of leadership. He will continue to go along to get along just to get re-elected
